TRADITIONAL RULER IN IBENDA OBOLLO, THE MAKING OF A NEW KING.

HIGH EXPECTATION FOR A QUALITY TRADITIONAL RULER    IN IBENDA OBOLLO AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY.

Following the death of Late Igwe (Engr) Daniel Odo Ogbonna, the Ekpo I of Ibenda Obollo, the Royal Seat was declared vacant according to the Constitution of Ibenda Obollo Autonomous Community. The time period of ‘on’ or ‘before’ six months as enshrined in the constitution is a shorter time when compared to other advanced communities who have had the experience of losing traditional rulers. Be it a mistake or not, the constitution cannot be altered at this critical period.

In the last General Assembly meeting that was well attended,  the Regent of the Community emerged also in accordance with the constitution. He is Chief Lawrence Oddy Omema. Chief Omemma will take charge of the Royal seat administration till the emergence of New Traditional Ruler – Ekpo II of Ibenda Obollo Community.

We have to thank you Hon. Remigius  Ogbuishi, the President General of Ibenda  Town Union for your Dynamic Leadership in organizing the General Assembly Meetings. You have been a serious pillar of Development in Ibenda, The qualities you have exhibited as the President General of this peace loving Community is enough to invite your Honorable self for the exalted position of this Traditional Ruler ship. The Ibenda People are peace loving and the reward of such peace lovers is always a quality leader like you. We need you to be Our next Traditional Ruler.   Please if you love your Community don’t  turn down this our offer.

It is interesting to note that approval was given to people who wish to occupy the seat to go for consultations while the process of replacing the Late Igwe commences by the next General Assembly meeting slated to hold on 4th June, 2016 at Central School Ibenda Obollo in Udenu LGA of Enugu State Nigeria. Time of the meeting is 12pm Nigeria time.

Interesting also to note that, the Community is among the young autonomous communities created by the Enugu State Government in 2002 and comparatively adjudged the luckiest community because of the composite nature of villages that has no heterogeneous mixture. Lucky also in the sense that selection of the first traditional ruler did not pose any difficulty as other communities that end up in court amidst killings and enmity.  A situation that has dastardly,  left community peace in chaos.

Now the Igwe is dead, the God of Abraham, that of Jacob, and awesome God of Isaac will still give the People of Ibenda wisdom to retain their position as the best Community in the State with wise options of selecting Traditional Rulers.

The Prayers for the Community in this trial moment should be strong for the smooth emergence of a new Traditional Ruler in the Community. If you like it, say amen.

The Quality of Traditional ruler Ibenda needs is left for your comment.
